Connecting Past and Present Through Education
Discover the mission, vision, and leadership behind the Civil Rights Museum Tour of America℠, dedicated to preserving and sharing the legacy of the civil rights movement.
Connecting Gandhi and King:
A Legacy of Nonviolent Resistance
CRMTOURS℠ highlights the profound intellectual, political, and spiritual connections between Mahatma Gandhi and the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.
Dr. King’s 1959 journey to India—undertaken “not as a tourist, but as a pilgrim”—deepened his commitment to nonviolent resistance as a moral and practical force for social change.
The Tour provides educational context on the legal, political, cultural, artistic, and spiritual dimensions of the U.S. civil rights movement, emphasizing its continued relevance today. CRMTOURS℠ underscores the movement’s multi-dimensional, multi-racial, and international character, and its enduring influence on struggles for equality, justice, and human dignity around the world.
